The GQC-3000 Drum-Type Sausage Cutting Machine is a rotary drum separator designed specifically for portioning twist-linked sausage products in collagen and natural casings. The drum-and-auger mechanism handles the natural constriction between twist-linked portions without blade contact with the casing body — producing clean, undamaged individual links from casing diameters in the Φ10–Φ50 mm range at 1,000 to 3,000 portions per hour.
Twist-linked sausage products — those produced by a YZG-1200 or similar linking machine — are connected by a casing constriction rather than a wire tie or metal clip. A straight blade cutter applied to these products forces perpendicular shear at the constriction point, which regularly splits the casing rather than separating cleanly. The GQC-3000 eliminates this problem by using a rotational drum-and-auger separation action that replicates the mechanical effect of breaking a twist-linked sausage by hand at the constriction.
Drum-and-Auger Separation: Why It Works for Twisted Links
The drum rotates around the product as the auger advances it axially through the drum chamber. At each constriction point between twist-linked portions, the combined rotational and axial force separates the link at the natural constriction without the blade-to-casing contact that damages the casing body in linear cutting machines. The result is clean-cut individual links with undamaged casing ends that seal properly — a quality outcome that matters for products going into retail packaging where casing presentation is part of the product’s appeal.

The drum-and-auger mechanism is optimised for twist-linked products where a natural casing constriction is the separation point. For clipped (metal clip or wire-tied) products, the clip or tie needs to be cut, which requires a blade-based cutting machine rather than a drum separator. For straight-cut portioning of clipped or string-tied sausages, the GJ-1000 High-Speed Sausage Cutting Machine is the appropriate choice.
What is the practical minimum product length of 20 mm, and what factors affect achievable minimum?
The 20 mm minimum is the mechanical minimum set by the auger advance and drum rotation parameters at minimum speed. In practice, very short link lengths require precise synchronisation between the drum speed and the auger advance rate. We recommend specifying your target link length when enquiring so we can confirm the parameter settings that will achieve it at your desired throughput.
How is drum speed matched to different casing types in practice?
Start with the lower end of the drum speed range for thin-walled or delicate natural casings (sheep casing, thin hog casing), and increase to the upper range for thicker-walled collagen casings and larger-diameter products. The frequency conversion control allows fine adjustment without mechanical changes. The English-language operation manual includes starting point parameter guidance for common casing types.
Is this machine suitable for inline use with a filling line, or only as a standalone?
The GQC-3000 is most commonly used as a standalone machine downstream of the filling-and-linking production line, receiving product from a hanging or collection system after the linking step. It can be positioned inline with appropriate product conveyance between the linking machine output and the drum cutter input, but this requires a conveyance interface specific to your line layout.
What is the maintenance schedule for the drum and auger?
Routine maintenance involves cleaning the drum and auger contact surfaces after each production run, inspection of the drum bearing and auger drive at scheduled intervals, and lubrication per the maintenance schedule in the operation manual. The frequency conversion drives follow their own manufacturer service intervals.

Why Drum Separation Outperforms Blade Cutting for Twisted-Link Products
Twisted-link sausage products are connected at a natural casing constriction — the casing material folds back on itself at the twist point, forming a mechanical junction that is elastic in nature. When a blade cutter attempts to cut through this junction with perpendicular shear force, the blade first compresses the casing before cutting it, and the elastic recovery of the casing tissue tends to deflect the blade laterally, producing a ragged cut face rather than a clean separation.
