Overview: YS-140 Mid-Scale Industrial Brine Injector
The YS-140 Industrial Brine Injection Machine is the centrepiece of the YS series and our highest-volume production model. Its 140-needle array at 1.0 bar injection pressure — delivered by a German Wilo centrifugal pump — achieves the needle density required to produce consistent, uniform brine distribution across standard pork ham, beef brisket, and whole poultry cuts in a single pass, without the multiple re-processing cycles that lower-needle-count machines require.
The YS-140 is purpose-built for processing lines running in the 800 to 1,500 kg per hour range. It shares the same SUS304 stainless construction, tooth-type stepping feed drive, pneumatic spring needle system, and two-stage filtration circuit as the YS-84 and YS-231, but its 140-needle configuration positions it as the practical optimum for the majority of commercial ham, deli-meat, and cooked-poultry production facilities. The machine delivers measurably better injection uniformity than 84-needle systems on standard cuts, without the capital cost and footprint of the 231-needle unit.
Mechanical System and Injection Technology
At 8 kW motor power driving a German Wilo pump to 1.0 bar, the YS-140 operates at twice the injection pressure of the YS-84. Higher pressure translates directly to deeper brine penetration into dense muscle tissue — critical for thick cuts such as whole pork legs, beef topside, and turkey breast where surface-level injection leaves the core under-treated. The pump maintains consistent delivery pressure throughout the production run regardless of brine temperature or viscosity variation.

The 140 individual needle positions are arranged across the full conveyor width to ensure complete surface coverage on standard cut dimensions. The tooth-type stepping feed advances the product in calibrated increments matched to the needle pitch spacing, so each section of the product receives a full, aligned needle pass. This geometry eliminates the striped injection pattern produced when needle spacing and feed advance are not co-ordinated.
Brine circuit management on the YS-140 uses the same two-stage filtration architecture as the wider YS series but with a higher-flow pump specification matched to the 140-needle manifold volume. The suction filter protects the Wilo pump impeller from particulate damage; the return filter maintains brine quality over extended production runs. The between-batch air purge cycle is configurable on the Siemens PLC touchscreen to match your specific product and brine formulation.

Pre-Shipment Quality Testing
Each machine completes an eight-hour full-load endurance test at the factory prior to shipment. Operating at rated needle speed and brine pressure, the run validates pump integrity, electrical stability, and conveyor alignment. Documentation is supplied on request.
Warranty Coverage
Our standard warranty covers 12 months from the date of arrival at your facility. This includes the Wilo pump assembly, Siemens PLC unit, needle manifold, and all drive components. Quick-wear consumables are bundled with every order so your line stays running.
Production Line Integration and Suitable Products
The YS injector fits between raw material preparation and the tumbling or mixing stage in any standard sausage and cooked-meat processing line. It processes boneless and bone-in cuts across pork, beef, poultry, and lamb product categories, and is also used for fish fillet pre-cure injection where appropriate needle diameters are specified.
- Whole pork leg (bone-in ham and boneless gammon)
- Beef topside, silverside, and thick-cut brisket
- Turkey breast, whole chicken, and thigh portions
- Lamb shoulder and whole leg
- Deli meat pre-cure: bologna, mortadella, cooked ham
- Cooked poultry products for sliced or portion-pack markets
Line position: The YS-140 is installed after raw material thawing, trimming, and cutting (and after brine preparation), and before vacuum tumbling or mixing.
Downstream: Vacuum Tumbler & Mixing Machines for marinade distribution, then filling, clipping, and smoking.

Why the YS-140 is the Market’s Most Specified Configuration
The YS-140 outsells both the YS-84 and YS-231 because its 140-needle count sits at the optimum intersection of injection density, machine footprint, power consumption, and capital cost for the most common commercial meat processing scale. Processing facilities running between 800 and 1,500 kg per hour find that 140 needles at 1.0 bar pressure deliver single-pass coverage adequate for the majority of standard pork, beef, and poultry cuts — eliminating the efficiency loss of double-passing product through an under-specified 84-needle machine while avoiding the power and capital overhead of the 231-needle unit.
Ham processors in particular specify the YS-140 for its ability to cover the full width of a standard whole-leg ham in a single pass at the needle pitch spacing this model provides. Deli meat and cooked poultry producers value it for throughput predictability: the 140-needle count at the YS-140’s conveyor width is matched to the product dimensions of the cuts most commonly processed in these market segments.
Injection Uniformity and Yield Improvement
The commercial argument for brine injection investment centres on measurable yield improvement. A correctly configured and operated brine injection machine increases product weight through marinade uptake, improves moisture retention during cooking, and reduces batch-to-batch variation in final product flavour and texture. The YS-140 at 1.0 bar injection pressure achieves deeper brine penetration into dense muscle tissue than 0.6 bar systems — particularly relevant for whole ham, beef topside, and thick poultry breast where the product cross-section exceeds 50 mm at its thickest point.
At the same time, the adjustability of the YS-140’s injection parameters — pressure, needle speed, conveyor step interval, and number of passes — allows operators to dial in the precise injection rate required for each product and brine formulation without modifying the machine hardware. Saved PLC recipes make changeover between product types fast and repeatable.
Vanliga frågor
How does the YS-140 compare to the YS-84 in real production conditions?
At equivalent production speeds, the YS-140’s 140 needles at 1.0 bar deliver higher injection coverage per pass on standard cuts than the YS-84’s 84 needles at 0.4–0.6 bar. For whole pork legs and thick beef cuts, this typically eliminates the need for a second pass, improving line efficiency. For smaller or thinner products, the practical difference is less pronounced.
Can the YS-140 integrate with automated upstream and downstream equipment?
Yes. The conveyor infeed and outfeed heights are designed for integration with standard processing line conveyor systems. The Siemens PLC can receive start/stop signals from upstream equipment for semi-automated line control. Contact us with your line layout specifications for integration advice.
What brine solutions are compatible with the YS-140?
Water-based brines, phosphate solutions, cure mixtures, marinade blends, and flavouring solutions up to the rated brine viscosity are all compatible. Brines containing particulates above 2 mm should be discussed with our engineering team before ordering, as filter specification may require adjustment.
Is a spare parts kit included with the YS-140?
Yes. Every YS-140 ships with a complete quick-wear parts kit including needle seals, filter elements, and conveyor slats. This kit is provided at no additional charge and covers standard maintenance requirements for the first year of operation under normal production conditions.
What after-sales support is available?
Our technical team provides support by email and video call for installation, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting. We also offer periodic customer visits for volume orders and contract customers. Contact us at our sales team to discuss your support requirements.
